Head chef Corin Earland was, until last Summer, head chef at The Fishes near Oxford. While he was there the pub won awards for its Sunday roast and was named Al Fresco Dining Pub of the Year. Corin also won a prestigious Acorn Award, which recognises the young rising stars in catering. He came out front of house to help launch The Almanack in Kenilworth and, after some time back in the kitchen there has moved to be head chef in Leicester. His team is serving a winter menu featuring both retro & modern pub dishes and some more sophisticated options.
Get the day off to a cracking start by popping in for breakfast. Enjoy one of our great coffees or freshly brewed teas and help yourself to free toast on the bar. The Almanack breakfast also takes some beating - great free-range sausage or bacon muffins, as well as the Almanack hash with poached free-range eggs. It's available every day from 8am. We also serve delicious cakes and milkshakes for the children, too.
If you’re looking for a speedy lunch, try our Roast of the Day – great quality roast meat with special vegetable dish of the day, carved to order & served straight away if you need to eat & run. After work, grab a seat in the bar & share a deli board with a friend over a drink. Or celebrate a family birthday with a full three courses at one of our lovely vintage rosewood tables with the big curved booth seats.
Our meat is all free range and comes from award-winning Coventry butcher, Aubrey Allen. Other ingredients are sourced from producers who take pride in their products & an ethical stance in their production. Our menu will always make the most of the best seasonal ingredients (this ensures we avoid air-freighting and keeps us in touch with the cycle of the year) to maximise freshness, quality & value.
We have a children’s menu, but we also like to encourage kids to be adventurous, so we're more than happy to make smaller portions or simplified versions of anything on our menu at half the adult price.
